At the entrance to the village and right by the beach, this is a lovely spot for a cold beer (€2.25/£1.80) under the trees looking out to the beach. There are pizzas, salads and sandwiches too.

Bar Ca’n Bernadet

Not right on the sea – but you’ll be focusing on your food here. Great seafood, including cuttlefish, octopus, squid and prawns. Tapas from €3.75/£3; about €20/£16 for lunch. A great tip for arriving into the village for your first night is a takeaway from here, its less than 2 minutes walk from our house and you can arrange food and drinks to take away.

With its terrace with views across the bay, Es Moll is a very pleasant spot to share some sardines, clams and a salad. Tapas from €4/£3.25, about €25/£20 for lunch.

Tamarindos

The Mediterranean laps comfortingly close as you sit on the terrace on stilts, eating sizzling locally-caught prawns, and perhaps sipping Menorcan wine. Lunch around €30/£24.

This is a wonderful boutique shop with a touch of class, right on the beach at the waters edge in Es Grau, the shop is run by a very good friend Antonio, he sources unisex and children’s clothes from all over the world so you know what you buy will be original, he also sells amazing jewellery, house furnishings and gifts.
